At 7,732 feet above sea level and covering 136 square miles (350 km2), Yellowstone Lake is the largest freshwater lake above 7,000 ft (2,100 m) in North America. This didn't stop them from wanting to dam the lake and enlarge it. Luckily, this is one of the few times that the Bureau of Reclamation did not get its way. Long live Yellowstone National Park!
