Delany Point, lies just upstream of Hardy Bridge beside a big bend of Montana's #MissouriRiver. I rolled the dice, betting on a colorful sunrise at this spot, 50 miles from my home and I happy with the results - I found an absolute gorgeous kaleidoscope scene of ancient volcanic rock, colorful sky and reflection.

Interestingly, the rocks in this region of Montana are of volcanic origin. Known as the Adel Mountains Volcanic Field, the area's formations includes well known landmarks like Square Butte. The volcanic field contains a significant and abundant source of shonkinite, a globally uncommon type of intrusive igneous rock that has drawn the attention of geologist for the past 100 years.
